Autograph letter signed from T.B. Macaulay, London, to James Renfield, Henley [manuscript], 1841 January 18.

Macaulay writes that he has received the letter from March 15 and he thinks it quite likely that he will arrange to see the recipient on Monday morning. Mentions trying to persuade Mr. [L?]ernth to come, but he is very busy with work he must complete by the end of the month; also refers to a Mr. Murray.

Thomas Babington Macaulay, born in 1800 in Leicestershire, England, was an historian and author. He was educated at Cambridge. After the success of an essay on Milton in the Edinburgh Review in 1925, he contributed regularly to that journal. He was called to the bar in 1826 and elected to Parliament in 1830.
